My growing up days are full of memories of my mother running after me to apply something to my hair or face on the weekends, Ayurvedic ubtans and packs, flowers and herbs paste for Hair, neem paste for acne on face and shoulders, fruit packs for suntan, various scrubs for different season skin, different oils for headaches or massages, and endless more. Whatever the need ,mother’ kitchen had the answer for anything and everything.
Since it was created at home I always took it for granted, found faults in the real earthy smells of herbs and vegetables, got cranky and bored waiting for hours before washing the Hair masala, I couldn’t even sit for minutes to keep a face pack, it was only later when I faced the camera I realised what a boon Natural products and Ayurveda did to me getting luscious thick hair and clear skin which never asked for wigs or heavy make up, however many times I tried to copy others and used heavy cosmetics, but I saw and realised each time, that I looked more beautiful when my skin and hair glowed with health and not fake chemical lased toxic products. Fancy ads and packaging with added perfumes and colours dupe us into believing that they will leave us looking and smelling like someone else, it took me around two decades in showbiz to reaffirm my faith that success and beauty lies in finding one’s own true potential, recognizing one’s flaws and healing them not hiding them. That which is real will always be beautiful and that which is fake will erode soon. Nature has all potent goodness for health and Sringaar. My mother obtained her knowledge from Ayurveda from a Guru in Tripura where my father was posted as a cop, and during each transfer to all different corners of India my mother searched , found and built on her knowledge further, I think I followed the path in the last few years along with my yog journey.
For a long time now I have been struggling with cleaning the clutter around me, removing all things toxic to my health , be it people, the food I put in my body and the products I use on me, I traveled and knocked on various doors of yoga schools, looking for the right knowledge, the path to a simple , healthy and blissful life, knowledge which would heal me of my vices and give me the vision to pick from the variety that what is best for my unique self. My father hails from a remote village in Rajasthan and his mother would make Ayurvedic medicine in our ancestral home, for all the folks in and around the village. I believe that’s where my calling for this path comes from. In the last 5 years Along with my Teachers Training in Kundalini yoga I also did my research on Ayurveda and several Natural formulas to improve gut health and Solah Sringaar.
